Football Begins!

The home opener vs. UAB kicked off at an early start! The game was a 12:30 kick-off so that meant serious tailgating had to take place bright and early! I got to Farm House around 8:30 and the couches and tvs were already on the lawn!

The Florida game on the other hand, was a totally different story! We started out the tailgate right with a party at the house the night before! By 9:30 Saturday morning the house was buzzing with excitement! The boys had a HUGE smoker in the front yard and it was loaded with BBQ for all of us to eat!

I made home make cupcakes with icing completely from scratch! I used powdered sugar, butter, cream cheese...and a secret ingredient... (ALMOND EXTRACT!) Except I was too goofy not to check the dollar store so I actually payed quite a bit for that REAL almond extract haha!

The tailgating started off with a bang and it was really really exciting to see all of my friends that I haven't seen in forever! A lot of alumni come back and visit and of course everything is crazy! I am pretty sure that I actually woke up to Rocky Top playing on a loud speaker outside the house! Orange tents filled the roads, and yes, despite the annoyance, these ugly blue shirts kept filing past the house taking pictures..

The usual for tailgating involves those few crazy people who start their morning out with beer over playing beer pong (yuck). Then there is the cornhole game which we are standing with! To play you have two boards and you set them far apart. You have to make a bag filled with corn into the hole and whichever team gets to 21 first wins! It's kinda hard but fun! Other than that tailgating is just having fun and enjoying the company you're around.

Despite the heartbreaking loss that we all faced last Saturday..somehow getting together with friends before the games always makes it a little easier to handle. If all football goes to heck, at least we know that in Knoxville, we will always have tailgating to look forward too!!

And in the end, we will always cheer "GOO VOLS!"

Sounds more like "Animal House" NOT "Farm House"....
